![]() This year’s foundation week, held from February 7-12, 2011, has the theme, “FEU Diliman in High Spirits @ 17”. The entire school was in a festive mood as students become involved in the various activities set for them. The celebration was opened with a mass led by Fr. Nonnette Legaspi who gave an insightful homily and blessed the entire week of festivity. Different departments prepared different events to make the week more lively and exciting for students and visitors. One of the opening events, the Field Demo, brought about by the BED and Tertiary departments’ joint efforts, surely set the mood for the entire day as students danced their way to the groovy music. All of their hard work and practice paid off as the event went well appreciated.
The Book Parade, headed by the Library is one colorful event that promotes reading books as a source of knowledge and entertainment for children. Participants from the Basic Education department march wearing costumes of their favorite characters. On February 9, many students participated in a Fun Run headed by Prof. Lucila Sison. The said run was organized as a fund raising activity that aims to promote physical wellness among students.
Also on that day, a Puppet Show with the theme, “Welcome to the Carnival Show!” was held at the library. This program, organized by the FEU Diliman Library, gathered kids from the preparatory level to bear witness to a showcase of fun, magic and excitement. Before noontime, English 4 college students, led by Mam. Ma. Francisca Viado put together a seminar entitled, “How to play DoTA” at the AVR. The said seminar aims to introduce DoTA to noobs (beginners) and interested people alike. The basketball Sports Fest was opened the next day, and a lot of students came to cheer on their respective teams. This event intends to further develop camaraderie and sportsmanship among students while having fun. The event then culminated on February 12 as the Red Team won the championship match. Another one on the list of programs organized by the library is the Epic Story Interpretative Dance Contest, where tertiary level participants selected an epic story of their choice and interpreted it using a dance number. This event stresses out how creative FEU Diliman students can be in showcasing the Filipino culture.
Still from the library, a Story Telling contest was held at the college AVR where elementary students came to compete with their chosen pieces. It was a day of tension and excitement for them as they vie for the title of being Best Story Teller. ![]() Anticipation builds up as ICON (Integrated Computer Organization) opens the AVR for the 2nd annual I-Quiz Bee. More than 30 pairs registered but only pair was heralded as the champion. Congratulations to Nikko de Guzman and Joseph Carlo David for winning 1st!
Also from ICON is a Multimedia Video/Photo Contest that encourages creative students to create a digital masterpiece with the theme, “Use of Technology in Building a Filipino Culture”. Winners from the said contest were Jericho Dave and Chamel Morales (Photo Category), and Edward Bravo, Cyril Cavite, and Anthony Felix (Video Category). Congratulations! Ending the day was the final round of the second season of Star Idol, a singing contest open for all levels. The finalists did their best to impress the panel of judges but only one emerged as the best. Congratulations to Brill Templo for bagging the first place and becoming one of FEU Diliman’s singing pride! FEU Diliman’s foundation week not only aims to give students entertainment and a break from their classes, but also to market the school as one of the best educational institutions in Quezon City. As such, the Guidance and Counseling Division in cooperation with the Peer Counseling Group organized two Open Houses on, one for the Basic Education Department and another for the Tertiary Department. Several schools were invited to come to our campus and take a tour. A program was prepared for them to further introduce the school and acquaint them with the different clubs and organizations in it.
The day was ended with Showtime!, an adaptation of the popular variety show with the same title, where groups of performers auditioned and competed for the prize money of P5,000. The audience was heavily entertained as they supported their favorite groups. Congratulations to FERNITURE, group of Francis Santos, for being the Grand Sampolista! ![]() The Foundation week ended with the annual Ambassador of Goodwill pageant, where 6 pairs vied for the most coveted title of being Mr and Ms. FEU Diliman. It was a night of glamor and excitement as the candidates flaunted their beauty and brains to impress the judges and be the next face of FEU Diliman. Congratulations to Maria Monica Atizado and Lee Sungbong for winning this year's AoG!
